Spring is finally on it's way, the river is starting to open. Landon and Carter are already asking to go for a boat ride. It wont be long now and I am sure Bill and Rick will have their boats in helping the ice break free, so they can proceed with the dock push.
Most of are snow is gone, leaving just the snow banks to melt away. With warmer days forecasted ahead and the thaw seeming to be on track...we anticipate a great season opener!

This winter brought a lot of wind and long periods of colder weather. Temperatures were a little colder on averge holding at -10F to -20F. We had many snow falls and acumalted over three and a half feet of snow. You can't see it in this photo, but the snow is pushed down inbetween the cabins and there are high banks on the boat ramp and infront of the fish house.

Bill and I got the kids on the school bus and took off for a day of ice fishing. When Landon and Carter got home we had a fresh walleye dinner waiting...there wasn't a crumb left behind. It was a great day!

Happy New Year to all,
We hope everybody had a wonderful holiday season that was filled with laughter and enjoyment and surrounded by family and good friends.
This holiday season was a busy one for us! It started off with Christmas being at the cabin. We loaded up all are gear and headed down the riverside across Bruce and onto Trout River to our little trappers cabin on the hill. Little did we know what awaited us.
Once we were settled in, we decided to take a nice evening ride down the back trails and visit some friends. This is when it all began! Half way down the road in the middle of nowhere I blew up the engine on my snow machine...then Landon and I endured what felt like hours of a white knuckling tow job from Bill and Carter.
We arrived back home to our house, warmed up and headed back out the door for the cabin. Bill and Landon on his machine and Carter and I on the rental, we made it down the riverside, across Bruce and started down Trout River when the rental machine engine blew up! I endured another white knuckling tow job from Bill and we all made it back to the house around 10:00pm.
With not a lot of transportation options left and feeling slightly defeated we decide that was the beginning and the end to Christmas at the Trappers cabin. We will definitely try having Christmas at the cabin again, although I am pretty sure it is not going to be anytime soon!
Despite all the obstacles we were fortunate to celebrate the holidays with family and friends and had a Very Merry Christmas! There were many games of ball hockey , sliding, sleigh riding, snow fort building and we even managed to make some time for a little ice fishing. We brought in the New Year with some very good friends and are looking forward to what 2011 has in store for us.
We wish you all the best in 2011 and look forward sharing another great season with all of you.
